9 Days from Marrakech to Merzouga desert

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Airport pick up and transfer to hotel. Time to make your first contact in the famous square of Jemaa el Fna.Accommodation in your selected hotel.

Day 2: Marrakech

Free day in Marrakech, famous for its ancient square of Jemaa el Fna, an amalgamation of aromas, sounds and unique sensations. The city has plenty of places for you to wander and enjoy: Majorelle Gardens, the Menara Gardens, the Saadian Tombs, walks through the medina or the Mellah (the old Jewish quarter), palaces, museums, the route of the walls, the modern city of Gueliz with its western lifestyles and of course the souks. Hotel accommodation as selected.

Day 3: Marrakech-Telouet-Ouarzazate

Departure in the morning towards the High Atlas and through the mountain pass at Tizi N Tichka 2260 m altitude .Our route takes us into the Ounila Valley, dotted with Berber villages, to the Kasbah of Telouet,palace of the Pacha Glaoui, former head of the caravans. Lunch on site. Kasbah Ait Benhaddou is our next stop, best known as a movie location and a UNESCO World Heritage site.We continue by 4×4 routes to Ouarzazate called the Hollywood of Morocco. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Valley of the Roses – Tinghir

In the morning we drive to the stunning Todra Gorge visiting the renowned Atlas film studios on the way. Our route also takes us by the exotic oasis of Skoura, Kasbah Amridil and Kelaat M’gouna. Lunch in the Valley of the Roses. In the afternoon we go down the route of a thousand kasbahs, only accessible by 4×4, passing through small Berber villages to reach the Todra Gorge. There we have dinner and we will be staying in a traditional kasbah hotel.

Day 5: Tinghir – Erfoud – Merzouga

We start the day by visiting the Todra Gorge, a narrow gorge with vertical walls over 300 meters high and situated near a palm tree-lined valley and Berber villages. Then pass through the palm of Tinghir. Later we drive to Erfoud. Stop in Rissani for lunch, here they have a speciality called madfouna, a delicious Berber pizza. We continue our journey to Merzouga where we bivouac and camel ride in the desert of Erg Chebbi. There will a typical Berber dinner and you can sleep in a traditional Berber tent made ​​of camel’s hair or under the stars under the extraordinary desert sky.

Day 6: Merzouga -Taouz – Ouzina – M´harech

Up early to watch the sunrise from the top of a large dune. After breakfast, back with the camels. Take a good shower and go out to visit the people of Khamlia who play a traditional form of gnaoua music, these desert tribes are descendants of the black slaves from Sudan. We make a stop for mint tea. Refreshed from our tea we go to the caves in Taouz and following the River Ziz,we take the old Paris- Dakar rally track. We pass by small villages lost in the desert routes, Ouzina (lunch on site) and Ramlia. After Ramlia, we takea very sandy track that follows theGheriz River to M´harech. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 7: M´harech – Zagora

After breakfast we depart for Zagora, along the track of Paris –Dakar rally crossing the hamadas (black desert) and see nomads under their tents. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 8: Zagora – Draa Valley – Marrakech

After breakfast, we leave Zagora and travel up through the picturesque Draa valley with its parade of palm trees via the Berber village of Agdez and the Anti Atlas (1660 m altitude) to Ouarzazate. We stop to visit the peaceful and idyllic Oasis Fint and follow the mountain road to Marrakech through the high pass Tizi -n- Tichka, stopping to admire the scenery and take pictures. Night in a hotel in Marrakech.

Day 9: Marrakech

Transfer to the airport according to your flight schedules and departure from Marrakech. End of our services.
