Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga Desert

Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes. We travel south through the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping first in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean streets.

We continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where you’ll have the chance to see the famous Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

Crossing the scenic Tizi n’Talghamt Pass, we arrive in Midelt, where you’ll have free time for lunch. Afterward, we drive through the spectacular Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves, dramatic gorges, and panoramic viewpoints.

Passing through Erfoud, known for its fossil workshops, and the historic town of Rissani, we finally reach Merzouga, on the edge of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.

After a refreshing glass of Moroccan mint tea, you’ll leave your main luggage in a secure room before beginning an unforgettable camel trek across the golden dunes. The ride takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, allowing plenty of time to admire the breathtaking desert scenery and sunset.

Upon arrival at the desert camp, you’ll settle into your traditional Berber tent equipped with comfortable bedding. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner followed by live Berber music around the campfire beneath a sky full of stars.

Overnight in a desert camp.

Wake up early to witness one of the most spectacular sunrises over the Sahara Desert. After breakfast, ride your camel back to the hotel, where you can freshen up before continuing your journey.

Drive toward Tinghir, passing through beautiful desert landscapes before arriving at the breathtaking Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural canyons. Enjoy time to walk along the river and admire the towering cliffs that rise over 300 meters high.

After lunch, continue through picturesque Berber villages toward the stunning Dades Valley, famous for its unique rock formations and ancient kasbahs.
