Day 1: Arrival in Tangier – Cape Spartel – Hercules Caves – Asilah

Welcome upon arrival at Tangier Airport or Port. Begin your journey with a visit to Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, followed by the legendary Hercules Caves, famous for their connection to Greek mythology.

Enjoy free time for lunch at one of the seaside cafés before continuing along the scenic Atlantic coast to Asilah.

After checking into your hotel, explore Asilah’s charming white-and-blue medina, surrounded by impressive walls originally built by the Almohads and later reinforced by the Portuguese. Visit the peaceful seaside cemetery beside the marabout of Sidi Ahmed Ibn Moussa, stroll through the narrow streets decorated with colorful murals, and exit through Bab Homar, home to the local market.

Tangier city

After breakfast, enjoy some free time to wander through Asilah’s medina or relax on the beach before departing for Larache, a charming town at the mouth of the Loukkos River.

Discover Larache’s rich Spanish colonial heritage while exploring Place de la Libération (Plaza de España), the historic streets, and the Fort of La Cigogne, overlooking the bay.

In the afternoon, visit the fascinating archaeological site of Lixus, one of Morocco’s oldest Phoenician settlements, later developed into an important Roman city dating back to around 1100 BC.

After breakfast, travel toward the Rif Mountains. Along the way, stop at the mysterious Stone Circle of M’Soura, an ancient megalithic monument consisting of 167 standing stones and believed to be one of the oldest archaeological sites in North Africa.

Continue through the beautiful countryside of Souk El Khemis des Beni Arous before arriving in the picturesque blue town of Chefchaouen.

After breakfast, enjoy a full day discovering the enchanting Blue Pearl of Morocco. An optional guided tour is available.

Wander through the maze of blue-painted streets beginning at Bab El Ain and the historic Souika district, the oldest neighborhood in the city. Visit the lively Outa El Hammam Square, home to the Grand Mosque, the Kasbah, charming cafés, and the traditional funduq.

Continue into the Andalusian Quarter, established after the arrival of Muslim refugees from Spain in the late 15th century. Walk uphill to Bab El Ansar and visit the refreshing spring of Ras El Maa, where local residents still wash clothes beside the flowing mountain water.

After breakfast, depart for Tetouan, one of Morocco’s most authentic Andalusian cities.

Explore its UNESCO-listed medina, entering through Bab Rouah near the Royal Palace. Walk along Al Mokadem Street, lined with traditional workshops and local artisans, before visiting the Zaouia of Sidi Ali Barka.

Continue toward Bab Mqabar and the historic cemetery, where you’ll find the mausoleum of Sidi Al-Mandri, the Andalusian leader credited with rebuilding Tetouan during the 15th century.

After lunch, travel back to Tangier and begin a sightseeing tour of the city.
